Doug Wark grew up in Brockville, Ontario and developed his skills as a competitive junior golfer at the Brockville Country Club. Doug moved to the Gananoque, 1000 Islands region in 1993. During the years from 93-98 Doug was a member of the Thousand Islands Golf Club, NY. At TI Club, Doug won several Club Championship and Match Play Championship titles as a scratch handicap amateur golfer.
Doug has taught thousands of students across the country in his various positions at different courses and academies. In 2004, Doug worked as a lead instructor at Canada’s top ranked teaching academy; the Canadian Golf Academy in P.E.I. At the CGA, Doug gained valuable experience working and learning from Canada’s top ranked Teaching Professional Anne Chouninard; the coach of Lorie Kane.
Doug is a Class “A” Instructor committed to helping golfers of all abilities improve their level of performance. As a graduate of Brock University with Honours in Physical Education and Humber College’s Professional Golf Management Program, Doug has extensive training and experience in the fields of teaching, coaching, motor learning, movement analysis and sports psychology. Doug has developed a teaching style that utilizes his expertise in Physical Education movement analysis training. His simple approach to learning and his enjoyable teaching style will assist you to improve your skills. Doug has a unique passion for the mental side of the game in which he has dedicated his life to the study of peak performance.
Doug is the Head Teaching Professional at Smuggler’s Golf Academy at Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course. GetintheZone: is the name of Doug’s Coaching and Consulting business. Doug is thrilled to live and work in the 1000 Islands, the region in which he grew up and began playing the game.
